Michigan’s 1st & Only Dedicated Billy Joel Tribute Band!
As of September 1, 2024 Allentown has just over 2.5 hours of Billy Joel’s greatest hits that includes many deep-track fan-favorites. A relatively new tribe compared to most Billy Joel tributes, Allentown has been modestly busy since our big 2021 debut. We’ve performed 26 performing arts centers, major league theatres, outdoor festivals & events, and even a few high-end private parties along our way. This year’s lineup features Canadian Maestro Mark Calcott whose resume includes performances at Carnegie Hall in New York and Massey Hall in Toronto, to month-long cruises touring the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas over the past 2 winters to name but a few.
Mark owns and operates Empire Recording Studios in Windsor, Ontario and has been a professional pianist, teacher and record producer for over 20 years. He is a graduate with honors from the University of Windsor’s School of Music and studied under Dr. Joel Hastings & Dr. Gregory Butler. Allentown has come together from Jackson, MI, White Lake, MI, St. Clare Shores, MI, Troy, MI & Toledo, OH, and Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
Our Brief History: During the global pandemic Mark officially joined Allentown at a time when it wasn’t safe to be even 6-feet apart, and the US/Canadian Governments closed the Ambassador Bridge connecting Detroit to Windsor so NO REHEARSALS AND NO GIGS! So with nothing but time on our hands, and doing all we could to stay positive, we started planning for a future when music concerts would make their comeback. Mark Calcott and band leader/drummer Todd Stoney hatched a plan whereby Mark would perfect and record one or two songs every couple weeks and release them on his YouTube Channel to show his progress, and several months later we had our 90-minute show polished. As each song was shared the other 5 was able to rehearse 1 on 1 with Mark in our own homes, in our own headphones, and at our leisure…and we had a lot of leisure time back then. By the time the restrictions were dropped, the boarder was opened, and it was safe to be together again, Allentown’s 1st rehearsal was absolutely magical. It was like we had written these songs ourselves and had been playing them together our entire lives.
